The one-day workshop "WHAT WE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ICAN?" will be held on December 16, 2013 at the University of Nizhny Novgorod. It is dedicated to prospective participation of Russian research institutions and universities in the upcoming European megaproject on the development of a "dream laser" capable to deliver light with Petawatt peak and Megawatt average power. Such a source will undoubtedly create a revolution in societal application of high peak power lasers, harnessing a full range of technologies from laser based radiation medicine to nuclear waste processing.
