Seminar “Terahertz Imaging and Spectroscopy for Cultural Heritage”

The seminar was held by J.B. Jackson (Center for Ultrafast Optical Science, University of Michigan, USA). Dr. Jackson surveyed the terahertz techniques that give an insight into archeological artifacts, for instance, allow one “to look inside” the Egyptial burial urns and internal structure of mummies, to discover under layers of paint earlier images in the pictures and ancient frescos hidden under plaster layers, to age-date wooden articles (dendrochronology), and so on.
